The Coach House ceramics group was made up of Coach House participants who have an interest and flair for ceramics.
The group worked using slab rolling, learned to make their own press moulds, sgraffito and more advanced glazing techniques. Taking inspiration from ‘Wally closes’ and using the theme of home to guide their design process.
The smaller group size allowed for the group more freedom to experiment, more focussed learning and by extension greater confidence with the material.
The workshops were widely enjoyed and allowed individuals to build on their own styles. Many of the group have carried on making tiles for themselves and friends.
The Coach House Trust is a voluntary organisation that aims to promote social and economic inclusion through integrating people into their communities. We work with people who have experienced exclusion from mainstream society and who are looking to improve their employability. We provide structured workshops in Art, Gardening, Woodwork, Computing, Music and Healthy Eating.
