A PLACE IN THE SUN: DENNISTOUN EDITION: #2 JACK HEYDON HOW DO YOU MOVE?
The second in a series of Glasgow-based escapism events. Artists are invited to decorate the false window of a tenement flat kitchen, which looks onto a photo of the Mediterranean. The installations are temporary, interactive; they cannot permanently alter the appearance of the window.
Jack Heydon's ‘How Do You Move?’ is an interactive analysis of the way people move and react to music. As people walk into the installation they will be allowed to make the choice to either enter the miniature cinema and view the artwork straight away, or to enter another room and be part of the artwork. Instructions for the dance, and time to learn it, will be provided. When they are ready, guests will be recorded doing the dance to music, and added into the final video. The video will start off with a few pre-recorded dancers demonstrating a large variety of people, it will then grow throughout the Glasgow Open House period and be completed after the final participant completes their dance on the last day.
The video, projected onto the 4 window quadrants, allows comparison of how people interpret dance instructions, emphasising an awareness of bodily movements.
