A new washing line appeared, linking 3 tenement buildings from Prince Edward Street to Allison Street, during a period marked by division and a space that foregrounds apportionment. Perera+Etienne will use this line to exhibit a new series of drawings. Printed onto personal belongings, the work brings together the architectural elements that divide and connect their shared back-garden and the shared absurdities governing a collective experience that exists in demarcated spaces.
Marc Etienne and Michella Perera first began their collaboration in Leipzig 2019. Since then they have exhibited in Glasgow in 2020. Their work uses humor to explore everyday absurdities and hap-hazardous dysfunction. It explores shared routines of their collective experience and the humor in repetition while writing the personal space into the collective and public domain, encouraging objectivity.
